Lets Talk About Marketplace For Win10/pocket
On Monday there was the public release from Microsoft/Mojang about the Marketplace for the Windows 10 and Pocket edition of the game. The Noxcrew have stated that we will, for the foreseeable future, not be working on PC/Java edition maps. The marketplace is based around skins, maps and texture packs, and that is the content the Noxcrew will be creating for it. But what does that mean for the server?
During the Livestream Q&A (rewatch it here), many people asked about the server and what changes the marketplace would have on it, mainly if the support for the server would continue. The simple answer is YES. The server is at a really good place where we are stable and are working to creating new content for MCStrike, new gamemodes and features requested by the community.
We have been working on this server for a few years now, and moving over to pocket edition would realistically mean returning back to square one. Right now we are unable to create plugins which heavily modified the game, like MCStrike, on a PocketEdition server. This means if we wanted to remake our plugins they would be very basic compared to what we can currently have on Java.
There were also questions about SuperSkyRunner (formerly SuperSteveRunner) and what is happening with that. We had previously said that we’d be working on making a version for the server. Although we do have a version created (which we have showcased at Insomnia as a playtest), the current progress has paused whilst a single player counterpart is being made. Once both are ready we will be joint launching them.
We do really appreciate the continued support. Noxcrew as a whole has been gifted this wonderful opportunity which will help all projects excel. We can only expect great things to come in the future!
